New FTTP Broadband - order process
New FTTP Broadband - order process
Once we have recevied your order, a ticket is created in our support system for the order and we will keep you updated throughout the order journey. Here is a summary of the stages of the FTTP Fibre broadband installation.
1. Depending on the current infrastructure into your building, a survey maybe required by the supplier. An engineer will perform a site survey to determine the best route for the fibre cable.
2. If it is determined that external cabling is required then an engineer will run a fibre optic cable from a nearby telegraph pole or underground chamber to your property. A hole will be drilled through the wall to feed the fibre cable inside, and then the fibre cable will be connected to an ONT, which is installed inside your home. This device converts the optical signal into a form that your router can use.
3. Once the New fibre ONT has been installed (or if you already have a Fibre ONT) then we will provide you with a broadband activation date.
4. On the day of activation - if you have ordered a router from NT Voice & Data then connect the router to the Fibre ONT using the ethernet cable provided with the router. Ensure the Fibre ONT and router are powered on. The router is preconfigured and should connect automatically. If you are providing your own router, you will need to configure the router with the configuration details provided by NT Voice & Data.
5. If you experience any issues then please contact our customer service team on 01623 687750.
